Problem
Hungry Wolves struggled with low engagement—players found the game confusing, the interface outdated, and the community unexciting. To re-ignite interest, I redesigned the experience, added PvP and wolf upgrade features, and helped the founders relaunch with fresh marketing to energize existing players and attract new ones.
Challenge
I faced three main challenges: understanding how Web3 and NFTs work, learning what makes NFT gaming projects successful, and delivering the entire project within a tight 45-day deadline.
Solution
I collaborated with the founders to create a thriving ecosystem where players felt excited to participate and invest. By energizing Discord and the Wolf Den, we built stronger community connections. Simplifying and enhancing the NFT game mechanics encouraged more adoption, while a modern, responsive UI made the experience seamless and enjoyable. Together, these efforts increased player satisfaction, drove new member growth, and helped raise the project’s floor price on OpenSea.
Impact
The redesigned Wolf Den was a hit—players flocked to challenges, amplified by a Twitter bot sharing results. Over 100 battles launched within the first hour, Discord activity surged, and returning players doubled week over week. The buzz spilled onto Twitter, boosting visibility and driving a 25% increase in the project’s floor price on OpenSea within the first month.

What is an NFT?
You’ve probably heard the term NFT floating around. Simply put, an NFT is like a digital deed—proof of ownership for something unique, tracked on the blockchain. Just like there’s only one Mona Lisa, there can only be one true owner of an NFT. What makes it powerful is the technology: it lets people buy, sell, and trade securely with each other—no banks or middlemen required.
Target Audience
The NFT audience understands cryptocurrency and regularly collects and Invests. 24% of men and 21% of women buy NFTs — research from Statistica

Wolf Den UX Research
The Wolf Den is where players unlock NFT game mechanics, earn dominance, and battle others. Research in the Discord support channel revealed two recurring pain points holding players back.
1. The user experience is not mobile responsive.
The mobile experience did not render pages in a digestible way, especially on long tables of data.
2. The Hungry Wolves platform had trouble registering "eat sheep" transactions.
Users struggled to find recent transactions after using the eat sheep feature, often thinking they failed or were still pending. This confusion drove frustration and a wave of redundant support complaints.
Insights
Players loved the community and NFT game mechanics but craved a smoother, more intuitive interface with instant feedback when their wolves consumed sheep. Research showed ETH transactions can take 15 seconds to 5 minutes, making real-time dominance updates impossible. To ease frustration, I proposed surfacing clear wait times so players knew exactly when to expect their dominance score to rise—an idea the founders approved.

Wolfpacks
Only users who have a Hungry Wolves NFT in their connected wallet can enter the Wolf Den. Once their wallet is connected, they can join a wolfpack based on the traits of their primary wolf.
Eat Sheep
Every month, players receive airdrops to their wallets. These airdrops contain free sheep NFTs the players can feed their wolves to earn more dominance points. Players acquire one sheep per Hungry Wolf they own (e.g., If a player owns five wolves, they gain five sheep each month). Each wolf can only eat three sheep a month to make things fair for players who own multiple wolves.

Challenges
Challenges are where the fun starts! Players can challenge each other and receive rewards based on the metadata rank of their wolves.

Upgrade Store
It's time to upgrade! Once a player has collected enough dominance points, they can trade in their points to update the visual traits of their wolves.

Leaderboards
It's time for bragging rights! Leaderboards let's players see how they rank against other players and gives them a goal to strive for.
